Increasing Security in Your Parking Garage
Covid-19 has spawned a lot of talk about safety and hygiene protection. With people moving away from public transportation in favor of their own vehicles, the parking garage is poised to take on a more prominent role in people’s lives. However, in a post-coronavirus world, drivers are more conscious about the cleanliness and safety of these parking areas.
Parking is the first impression of your business, and it must meet or exceed the higher standards of your customers.
To assist you, ParkHelp Technologies has created an 8-step guide to creating a cleaner and safer environment in your parking facilities. But, parking garage protection doesn’t end at stopping or slowing viral threats.
How to increase security in your parking garage
As the vaccination process advances, more people will be hitting the roads and parking in your lots. More drivers equal more potential victims – and you need to everything in your power to ensure their safety when they park in your lot.
Many parking lots, especially parking garages, have earned a bad reputation. Many are dark and under guarded, giving bad guys an opportunity to hide – waiting for cars or people to rob.
This doesn’t only cause unwanted trouble to the victim; it also gives a bad image of the parking garage and our business. All businesses want customers, patients, and travelers to be safe and have the best possible parking experience, and ParkHelp can provide solutions that do that.
Technologies that increase security:
- Video surveillance. Nothing is more effective against criminals than a security camera. Today’s Video Management systems allow for early exposure of suspicious behavior, facial recognition, and motion detection. This makes it much easier to catch the bad guys even before they attack. ParkHelp’s camera-based parking guidance system does all that, and event catches the bad guys lurking in the dark spots between cars.
- LPR Blacklists. ParkHelp’s LPR systems allow for the creation of blacklists, managing the license plates which are known to have been causing trouble in other parking garages. The system alerts when a registered license plate attempts to access the facility.
- Mobile reservation & payment methods: Mobile reservation apps provide touch-free and ticketless payments and decrease exposure to others. ParkHelp systems integrate with mobile reservation and payment apps, and thanks to our LPR and Bluetooth technology, the payment process will be much easier and more secure.
- Better lighting technology. Criminals prefer to attack when they’re unseen. More lighting offers a better parking experience, reduces the risk of being assaulted, and increases the feeling of security. ParkHelp’s smart lighting system also helps reduce power costs, with adjustable intensity and automatically dimming lights in zones where it isn’t needed.
- Effective parking guidance to special spaces. Some countries have implemented women-only parking spaces, offering parking options close to entrances for female drivers. The thought is: the shorter the distance, the less likely they are to get assaulted. By guiding the drivers to the right parking space, we can help improve the parking experience and increase the feeling of security.
All ParkHelp security technologies can be controlled and monitored via ParkManager, ParkHelp’s very own parking management software, a powerful tool for parking managers who care for the security in their facilities.
